The Coast Guard suspended its search last night for a missing 33-year-old Mainer who didn't return from a clamming trip in the midst of a major winter storm. Paul Brenner left the Long Cove Boat Ramp in a 16-foot skiff at 5 p.m. Thursday to clam on Clark Island off Long Cove, the Coast Guard said. When he didn't come back, Brenner's family alerted the Maine Department of Public Safety, which requested assistance from the Coast Guard's northern New England sector and Maine Marine Patrol, according to the Coast Guard.
